Snow is on it’s way, maybe this week the weather report says. It’s that time, time to bring out the shovel and keep it in a handy place. However, remember that snow shoveling can be dangerous to your health so it’s important to practice safety when clearing snow from your property. Think of safety first.
Snow shoveling is strenuous, so as with any other exercise, warm up before by taking a walk and stretching. Drink plenty of water. And remember to pace yourself. People die every year of a heart attack while snow shoveling because they’re not used to rigourous exertion and the raise in heart rate. So take it easy and take it slow. If you have a medical condition, ask your doctor if it’s safe.
Don’t injure your back. Remember to bend from the knees as with all heavy lifting. Use a smaller snow shovel so you’re lifting a lighter load.
